Introit to Thanksgiving

“Before we give thanks, we pause before you:
God Most High –
you who are so far above us took on human flesh.
Almighty God –
you whose strength is matchless assumed human weakness.
Everlasting God –
you who are eternal bound yourself in time….”

This responsive reading begins where every expression of thanksgiving must: with the name and nature of the One to Whom we give thanks.
